"Hey batta batta batta, suh-wing batta"

Oh lordy. It appears that one of the managers has bought a Wii and installed it in the office for everybody to use - presumably as some sort of morale-boosting alternative to staring at our P.C. screens in quiet despair. Or, in my case, knitting.

I know the aforementioned manager will be kicking himself before January is out. The Wii is a black hole of time, a Scylla and Charybdis for unmotivated office workers. I just spent 45 minutes on it, playing baseball. I don't even like baseball. It wasn't even my lunch break. I just happened to pass it en route to the water cooler and it just sucked me in.

I envisage my productivity will plumb new depths in 2008. But at least my batting arm will get nice and strong.

Oh! Have you tried bowling? They had a Wii for a day once at my old student union. I had a go, thinking I wouldn't be able to do it, and by jimminy I got my own a bit later. I was hooked.

Wiis are being installed in old people's homes for the bowling and golf games - the biddies are loving it. My friend keeps asking me how he can persuade his girlfriend that his 8 month old son 'needs' a Wii for his social and personal development. It is only a matter of time before I'm hooked - something else to give me RSI.

We have one of those as well. When I first joined, nearly a year ago, people would play the odd 10 minutes on it here and there. Now they barely look at it. The novelty will wear off!

I'm tempted to get the keep fit programme that goes with it - seeing as Nick is exclusively using our Wii for MarioGalaxy at the moment!

I just lost an entire day (being a whole 12 hours) playing Super Mario Galaxy on the Wii... and I don't generally like computer games, with some notable exceptions (ie tetris). It's so much fun and adorable. I'm a big Wii fan... other than the name, of course!
